Who We Are

Founded in 2018 by internationally renowned cellist Amit Peled, Mount Vernon Virtuosi is a Baltimore-based chamber orchestra dedicated to supporting young musicians on the threshold of their professional careers. Comprised of seventeen string players, our mission is to provide an environment for artistic growth and continued skill development, while fostering personal and musical excellence. Through exceptional performances and meaningful community engagement, we connect with audiences of all ages throughout the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. region.

Mount Vernon Virtuosi regularly performs at three Maryland venues: the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Baltimore, and St. Ann Catholic Church in Washington, DC. Thanks to the generous support of dedicated individuals, all regular season performances are offered free of charge. We continue to build strong partnerships with community organizations across the region, bringing concerts and educational initiatives to schools, prisons, hospitals, hospice programs, and local venues that help expand our reach and accessibility.

In addition to its regular season in the Baltimore–Washington area, Mount Vernon Virtuosi has toured extensively along the East Coast and records exclusively for the CTM Classics label. The orchestra’s first album, Mozart Live, was released in 2019.
